Harolyn Blackwell won Artist of the Year in 1994/95 for her performance as Gilda in “Rigoletto.” For Seattle Blackwell has also sung Marie in “La fille du régiment,” Lakmé, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norina in “Don Pasquale,” and Olympia in “The Tales of Hoffmann.” In this excerpt from her first act aria, “Caro nome,” Gilda muses on the name of her beloved Gualtier Maldé.
