Artist of the Year: ROBERT ORTH as Danilo

Robert Orth won Artist of the Year in 1992/93 for his performance as Danilo in “The Merry Widow.” Orth has also sung Dandini in “La Cenerentola,” Count Almaviva in “Le nozze di Figaro,” Eisenstein in “Die Fledermaus,” and Mr. Parkis in “The End of the Affair” in Seattle. In his famous “Da geh’ ich zu Maxims” (sung in Seattle in the English singing translation by Sheldon Harnick) Paris-based expat Danilo describes his favorite café, where he spends his evenings with his ladyfriends Lolo, Dodo, Joujou, Cloclo, Margot, Froufrou. Heinz Scheffler conducts the orchestra of Seattle Opera.
