Julian Patrick sang Alberich in each Seattle Opera production of Wagner’s “Ring” from 1984 to 1995. His nuanced portrayal endowed the Nibelung with real dignity, as well as vicious anger, lust, and terrifying brutality. This recording of Alberich’s curse dates from 1995.
