Lawrence Brownlee won Seattle Opera’s Artist of the Year Award in 2008 when he sang Arturo in I puritani. Brownlee first joined the company as a Young Artist eight years prior; he sang Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Prince Ramiro in La Cenerentola with the Young Artists, before moving to the mainstage for Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Arcadio in Florencia en el Amazonas, Lindoro in L'italiana in Algeri, and Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia. In his entrance aria in I puritani, “A te o cara,” this Cavalier gentleman displays his sublime sentiments—not to mention breath control—as he enters his Puritan fiancé’s home for their wedding. Edoardo Müller conducts the chorus and orchestra of Seattle Opera.
