The great Canadian tenor Jon Vickers came to Seattle to play one of his signature roles, Peter Grimes, in our only production of the Britten masterpiece.

  • Archie Drake was cast as himself when he played Captain Balstrode in “Peter Grimes” at Seattle Opera in 1983. A native of Great Yarmouth, England, a few miles up the North Sea coast from Britten’s Aldeburgh, Archie had been in the British navy in World War II and in the merchant marine after that.
