Christine Goerke took on the vocally demanding role of Norma, an all-powerful, supposed “virgin” priestess, who is driven to murderous jealousy by her lover's inconstancy. Ewa Podles' compelling debut performance, as Norma's friend and rival Adalgisa, won her Artist of the Year for 2003.
