With a simple set evocative of birch trees and a grand Russian home, YAP Artistic Director Peter Kazaras (once a Lensky on Seattle Opera’s mainstage) proved that the heart of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece really is its ‘Lyric Scenes,’ and not anything grandiose. Russian-American pianist Dennis Doubin gave the musical side of the production passionate authenticity.
