Director Renaud Doucet and Designer André Barbe created this production for a consortium of American opera companies, and it earned rave reviews from critics and audiences in Seattle. Asher Fisch won Artist of the Year for his duties on the podium, where he made many people hear things they’d never before noticed in Puccini’s beloved score. Antonello Palombi sang a nuanced Calaf, and Marcy Stonikas made an extremely exciting role debut as Turandot; but many said that Ping, Pang, and Pong (Patrick Carfizzi, Julius Ahn, and Joseph Hu) stole the show.
