Stage Managers are the air-traffic controllers behind the scenes who ensure that every element of an opera production (singer entrances, scenery, lights, special effects, etc.) happens consistently, safely, and as designed. They track every detail, coordinating each performer and all crews to create the best art possible. Their spirit of collaboration and dedication can be seen and felt in every production.

Photographed here: Clare Burovac and Vincent Feraudo, two of Seattle Opera’s all-time MVPs, deep in concentration at a Ring rehearsal in McCaw Hall. Burovac was Seattle Opera’s Production Stage Manager from 2001 to 2008, when Yasmine Kiss moved into that position. Feraudo, who began as an assistant stage manager in 1985, was Production Stage Manager from 1991 to 2001, when he became Director of Production.
