Julian Patrick was an unforgettable Beckmesser in Seattle Opera’s only production of Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.” In the hilarious conclusion to Act Two, this insufferable pedant attempts to serenade his ladylove while Hans Sachs, the merry cobbler (sung by Roger Roloff) marks the many errors in Beckmesser’s love song on the cobbler’s awl.
