Ben Heppner won the 1995/96 Artist of the Year Award for his portrayal of the doomed French revolution poet. The production marked the Seattle Opera debuts of Richard Paul Fink (Gérard), who would become Seattle Opera's Alberich for Ring 3, and also Bernard Uzan (director).
