Following her 1967 triumph as Lakmé, Joan Sutherland returned to Seattle the next season to sing Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, with Huguette Tourangeau as Zerlina and Gabriel Bacquier as the Don. Sutherland won particular praise for her ensemble singing and for her refusal to upstage the rest of the cast.
