Jane Eaglen made her company debut as a last-minute replacement for the demanding title role in Norma. She caught a cold on the airplane flying from London to Seattle, and so didn’t sing the dress rehearsal. Thus, Speight Jenkins was as surprised as the audience, come opening night, to hear the sound of this woman’s remarkable voice.
