Bartlett Sher, then head of Seattle’s nearby Intiman Theatre, directed Martin David Levy’s Mourning Becomes Electra. The show had a striking and haunting look, thanks to Michael Yeargan’s set, Elizabeth Caitlin Ward’s costumes, and Jennifer Tipton’s lighting. Lauren Flanigan’s star turn as the conflicted Christine drew sustained cheers; other cast standouts included Nina Warren, Jason Howard, Kurt Ollmann, and Gabor Andrasy.
